What is an “owner surrender”? At Ross County Humane Society, we accept dogs and puppies into our adoption program that owners need to re-home. RCHS does not euthanize for space, so we are limited on how many animals we can take in. Owner surrenders are taken on a case by case basis as space in our facility permits.
Our shelter intake staff will call after receiving the online form to schedule a free behavior evaluation. Please allow up to ten (10) business days to process owner surrender requests. Most are completed within 48 hours.
After passing the behavior evaluation shelter intake staff will approve entry into the program.
Cost: Animal surrender fees are $50 per animal. Please note that these fees help keep our shelter running. RCHS does not receive any free veterinary care and operates primarily on donations.
Animal Surrender Questionnaire Please note that the completion of this form does NOT guarantee your animal will be admitted into the adoption program at RCHS.
