My husband and I got a dog about one year ago, Zoey, who stole our hearts. A year and one day later, February 17, 2007, we decided that Zoey needed someone to play with, so we stopped by the Ross County Animal Shelter. We brought Zoey along in case we found a dog. It was very difficult looking at all the dogs that needed homes. After going down one isle we turned to go up the next and I saw the most gorgeous happy dog jumping and smiling right at me! When I knelt down she just started giving me the most precious kisses! I was immediately in love with her.
They didn't tell me much about her past or where she came from, but I didn't care. My husband and I decided to have her meet our Zoey. When we put both of them into the play area together Zoey wasn't too sure of Callie. So we were a little worried to get her at first. We decided to try it and bring Callie home with us.
In the beginning Zoey was very territorial and did not like sharing with Callie. But as time went by they began to love playing outside together and playing tug-of-war. They love fighting for our attention and competing on who can get the most kisses! Callie has blessed our lives and I don't know what we would do without her. We call her our little polar bear!
For all of you who read this please consider opening up your home, because no matter what their past was, they still have lots of love to give.
